Five Heated Bird Baths that are Great for Winter

Want to know a secret to bringing more birds to your yard during the winter? Heated bird baths are a welcome source of water for many species during the harsh winter.

A heated bird bath is especially welcome for birds when it’s cold, because lakes and ponds are frozen. Open water is hard to come by. There are also bird species, like American Robins and Cedar Waxwings, that are more likely to visit a bird bath versus a bird feeder. So, it’s a good resource for birds. But, it’s also great for you to bring more entertainment to your yard.

I woke up on the date of writing this story to a “feels like” temperature of -35 in Minnesota. I wanted to do some research on some of the most highly-rated heated bird baths I found online. Offering a water source in the winter is one of several things you can do to help birds when winter weather is at its worst. The Cornell Bird Lab also endorses heated bird baths as an element in a winter-friendly bird garden.
