It’s no secret on my blog that the mighty Northern Cardinal is my favorite bird to visit my feeders. I’ve been testing out different bird seeds from Amazon recently and was impressed with the price and quality of the Audubon Park Cardinal Blend as a bird seed Cardinals will love.

This bird seed is a blend of two seeds Cardinals love: Black-oil sunflower seed and safflower seed. It’s mostly sunflower seed with some safflower blended in.

I’ve been feeding the birds for years and sunflower seed is my favorite thing to offer for a couple reasons. First, it draws in the largest variety of birds (I’ll list them later). And, it’s relatively cheap! I’ve also noticed that a lot of my favorite birds like Cardinals, Chickadees, and Grosbeaks really enjoy safflower seed.

This four pound bag of bird seed was $8.99 when I purchased it (subject to change).
I’ve been experimenting with this bird seed in a large tube bird feeder and I’m happy to report that a pair of Cardinals visit nearly each morning and evening to eat. Mission accomplished! I’ve also personally seen Downy Woodpeckers, Sparrows, House Finches, and Black-Capped Chickadees enjoying it.
This seed also currently has a 4.7/5 customer review rating on Amazon. Not too shabby.
This bird seed is nearly perfect, except that it’s not completely void of fillers. When I went through the bag, I did find a small amount of twigs and wood (pictured below). To be clear: This isn’t much filler compared to other seeds. I still find this bird seed to be an excellent value. It’s free of other fillers like red milo and oats.
